You must realize though, that this is either an easy song to play half assed, or a tough song to play properly. So I will take the blame for this one. Also, there are a lot of unique sounds used in this song that cannot be done without an effects pedal of some sort. I have also learned this song on a guitar tuned a half step down (Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, eb), which maybe right or wrong.. so if you don't match up with your copy of the song, don't fret. Just re-tune, or play without the tape. Which breings me to my final point before starting, this is a fairly messy tablature. I HIGHLY recommend you listen to the song to get the feel and timing before embarking on this, because I care not to re-tab this all out with a system of timing. Good Luck! Verse 1 C C D D D A A F F F e|-----------------|------------------|-------------------|---------------------| B|-----------------|------------------|-------------------|---------------------| G|---------5--5-/7-|7--7--------------|-------------------|-------------------o-| D|---------5--5-/7-|7--7--------------|-----------7--7-\3-|3--3---------------o-| A|---------3--3-/5-|5--5--------------|-----------7--7-\3-|3--3-----------------| E|-----------------|------------------|-----------5--5-\1-|1--1-----------------| (note: This is now known as RIFF 1) Really just the bass plays the roots to these chords (written above) through a phaser pedal of some sort, but if you're playing alone, you may wanna do these power chords instead. Guitar actually comes in here, after "Ones who push and push till it hurts.." Verse 2 (riff 1 again) C C D D D A A F F F e|-----------------|------------------|-------------------|---------------------| B|-----------------|------------------|-------------------|---------------------| G|---------5--5-/7-|7--7--------------|-------------------|-------------------o-| D|---------5--5-/7-|7--7--------------|-----------7--7-\3-|3--3---------------o-| A|---------3--3-/5-|5--5--------------|-----------7--7-\3-|3--3-----------------| E|-----------------|------------------|-----------5--5-\1-|1--1-----------------| Guitar plays this first time after chorus, then for the verse its just bass again e|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| B|-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-|-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9--|-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9--|-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-----| G|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| D|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| A|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| E|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| During verse 2, one guitar plays this palm muted, over and over again, until Matt sings "Push and push and push 'till it hurts, then it plays that oh so famous by now riff 1 for the rest of the verse, while guitar 2 throws in some nifty feedback sounds, which by the way cant really be tabbed, sorry. Then, when he sings "Pull and pull an pull 'till it hurts", you jump back to the Pre-chorus and chorus. Then.. Bridge e|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| B|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| G|--7-7------------|------------------|--7-7-------------|----5-5-5---------5-o| D|--7-7---8---7---3|----5-5-5-------5-|--7-7---8---7---3-|----5-5-5---------5-o| A|--5-5---8---7---3|----5-5-5-------5-|--5-5---8---7---3-|----3-3-3---------3--| E|--------6---5---1|----3-3-3-------3-|--------6---5---1-|----3-3-3---------3--| repeat three times, amongst guitar 2's feedback and phaser noises, then back to the riff 1 again with guitar once, then just bass. Verse 3 (played overtop of riff 1, same notes as lyrics) e|-----------------|------------------| B|-----8---8--6--8-|-/10--------------| G|-----------------|------------------| D|-----------------|------------------| A|-----------------|------------------| E|-----------------|------------------| play three times, then join with bass in playing 2nd half of riff 1 then continues to play with bass, as one guitar does this dissonant little riff: e|-----------------|-------------------| B|--6---6---6---6--|--6---6---6---6----| G|----9---9---9---9|----9---9---9---9-o| D|-----------------|------------------o| A|-----------------|-------------------| E|-----------------|-------------------| And when Matt sings "Solid Gold" the 2nd time, change it to e|-----------------|-------------------| B|--8---8---8---8--|--8---8---8---8----| G|----9---9---9---9|----9---9---9---9--| D|-----------------|-------------------| A|-----------------|-------------------| E|-----------------|-------------------| Do this while playing the prechorus. Then onto the Chorus, twice, and the 2nd time through, no words, but guitar 2 plays this: e|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| B|-7-6-7---7-6-7---|-7-6-7---7-6-7----|-7-6-7---7-6-7----|-9-8-9---9-8-9-------| G|-------6-------6-|-------6-------6--|-------6-------6--|-------6-------6----o| D|-----------------|------------------|------------------|--------------------o| A|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| E|-----------------|------------------|------------------|---------------------| reapeat this one twice, then back to riff 1 ONCE, and then you're done. Lyrics: I found me a reason so check me tomorrow we'll see if I'm leaking push and push till it hurts my devil's on roller skates down at the roller rink picking up chicks for me ones that push and push till it hurts Dirty enough I got me a love and it's so bad Life's for the living so check me tomorrow we'll see if I'm kidding push and push till it hurts did it on Ritalin I got me some good grades now I work me the night shift where I pull and pull till it hurts Dirty enough I got me a love and it's so bad hello time bomb I'm ready to go off If life's for the livid check me tomorrow we'll see if I'm emperor my devil's on sugar smacks down at the radio shack we're turning shit into solid gold solid gold Repeat chorus as desired...
