A Better Pain tabbed by justin (self-destruct10) capo on 2nd fret-chords are relative to capo Em-022000 G-3x0033 C-332010 D-000232 Asus2-002233 Asus1-000233 Em/D-022033 Cadd9-032033 normal G-320033 this song is sort of difficult. it's all about timing. you really have to listen to the pattern changes, and if you want to sing while you play, well, good luck. i'm pretty sure this is one of the earliest tunes matt wrote after leaving the rodchester kings. and they didn't think he should play the guitar. sorry if you feel this is inaccurate. i've never seen this posted before. in order for you to play in the exact same tuning as matt, you might have to adjust the pitch a bit. intro-short choppy strokes with timing...Em,G,C....just strike the lower strings. just improvise for the picked out bit at the begining. then when matt starts saying.."there are 800 little"...play Em,G,C...but play the whole chord. when matt says.."i am waiting for the dark outside to masquerade as"...pick out the Em, then pick out C, starting on the A string and ending on the B string. (sorry) Chorus-"never been and never seen"...back to Em,G,C. Then...matt says.."aren't you glad all of a sudden you are free"...for this part play,Em,G,Cadd9 and let the top strings ring out on the Cadd9. and this is where it gets a little shaky... try to listen for this part but I think the "welcome home" part is Em/D, Asus1,Asus2. (sorry again for chord names.) the part immediately following is rather difficult...it's really hard to tell exactly what matt is playing. and this is where it gets a little shakier...listen close for timing....(instrumental part before verse 2)...matt plays.. Em/D,Cadd9,Asus2,Em/D, then he holds the Asus2....then he holds the Em/D....both of these have short choppy strokes.... then he comes in with Asus2,Em/D,Cadd9.....then back to the normal pattern of Em,G,C, for the rest of the song. and if you like you can play this same pattern with the add9's on these chords for effect. i know this tab is pretty confusing, but if you use these chords as guidelines, and really listen close to the song, you'll be able to figure it out pretty easily. if you have any comments or corrections, please email me at vermillion902 @aol.com
